Shahid as a cute girl in Milenge Milenge

Bollywood babes better watch out... Looks like Shahid Kapoor isn’t content giving the heroes a run for their money.

The actor will be seen in a short skirt and pink top in Boney Kapoor’s Milenge Milenge that will release this Friday. Director Satish Kaushik can’t stop laughing when he remembers the scene in which the actor dared to go for a major makeover. “I didn’t have to convince him at all. He was absolutely cool with dressing up as a girl. Many a times male actors dress up as women, but some of them can’t carry it off. However, Shahid is a good-looking guy and he had no problem carrying off this look.” Well Shahid definitely is in good company. Previously some of Bollywood’s biggest stars, be it Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan or Aamir Khan, have all donned female attire at some point in their career.

And this isn’t just an inconsequential scene in the movie. In fact, Shahid is dressed as a girl when they meet for the first time in the movie. Revealing a bit, about the scene, Satish says, “The first time that a hero and heroine set eyes on each other is an important moment in every movie. This time around, we have treated it differently. In the movie, Shahid and his friends are trying to sneak into a girl’s hostel for one of their friend’s girlfriend’s birthday. Obviously they can’t walk in as guys, so they decide to change their look drastically.” And the makeover results in the guys becoming girls. “So when they — Shahid and Kareena — meet for the first time, they meet as two girls,” he laughs.

The movie that will see the Shahid Kapoor-Kareena Kapoor pair together post Jab We Met, will be liked by the audience feels Satish. “People want to see them together after Jab We Met. Also the movie is a fast-paced movie. The whole thing about finding one’s true love is a very thrilling thought. And frankly, romance never goes out of fashion,” he says

Shahid Kapoor will do some unique dancing in Mausam

If it's a Shahid Kapoor film, there must be some heavy duty dancing. Or so it seems, going by the way the music in his father's directorial debut Mausam has been moulded to accommodate Shahid's dancing shoes.

According to a source very close to the project, the film's aesthetically-inclined director Pankaj Kapoor had initially planned an exclusive heavily melody-based music score based only ragas.

In fact, Pritam Chakraborty who's doing the music score in Mausam has just recorded a raga-based love melody in the voice of Rashid Khan.

Says Pritam, "It was meant to be only a small music piece. But when Pankaj-ji heard the tune he wanted it as a full-fledged song."

Pritam admits the music in Mausam would be heavily melodious in the tradition of the great love stories down the ages from Bobby to Love Story to Ek Duje Ke Liye to Saawariya.

But now just days after Pritam recorded the raga-based number comes the news that a specially-designed dance track will be put together for Mausam.

A source close to the project who doesn't want to be named says, "There was closed-door meeting between the producers, the director and Shahid Kapoor. It was unanimously decided that there would be a very unique song-and-dance. It was felt that Mausam was too expensive a project to make it seem even slightly experimental in flavour."

Says the film's producer Sheetal Talwar, "We don't want to disappoint Shahid's target audience, the young fans. So yes, Shahid will dance after all."

Shahid's buddy Ahmed Khan is now busy trying to accommodate the dance into his crammed diary. He has no choice. Shahid has to dance.

Shahid Kapoor: I am a bekaar actor

Shahid Kapoor calls himself "unemployed" despite promoting one film and awaiting the release of another

Shahid Kapoor has two projects ready for the marquee his buddy choreographer Ahmed Khan's production Paathshaala releases this week followed by Parmeet Sethi's Badmaash Company early next month. With his last outing Chance Pe Dance proving to be a damp squib, the actor is hinging on these movies to put him back on track. Over the weekend, the actor was in Paathshaala promotion mode. But he prefers to say that he is doing nothing, as we ask him .

The general perception is that film promotions are a hectic, exacting task.
Currently, I am an unemployed actor leading a boring life.

But you are in the midst of promoting Paathshaala that's work.
Yes, they are planning certain things. I will be visiting my old school in New Delhi besides some other events.

You are also preparing for your father Pankaj Kapoor's project Mausam..
That will happen later. When I am not shooting I call myself unemployed.

Buzz is that you acted in Paathshaala for free because of your close association with Ahmed Khan.
I would not like to talk about it.

You consider him to be your best buddy.
Yes, we are close. I have known Ahmed Khan for years now. Our families knew each other. So we go back a long way. I remember visiting his house and watching him do breakdance in awe! He was so good at it. I used to be thoroughly impressed by his moves. Later, when I began my career, he was associated with me at every step ever since I did my music video Aakhon Mein Tera Hi Chehra, he choreographed it.

There is also speculation that your role in Paathshaala is a cameo/guest appearance.
The film is two hours long and I feature for a good hour. So that makes it a decently sized role or a cameo as said.

How was your interaction with co-star Nana Patekar?
I shot with him for two days. He is a fabulous actor. There is also Ayesha Takia there is familiarity as I have worked with her before.

How far does Paathshaala tackle the ills of the educational process?
Paathshaala takes up two to three vital issues and how it impacts the minds of the children. I essay the role of a teacher who teaches at the SVM School where the movie is set and it has children of different age groups. I am happy to do a film that is relevant and topical.

Your next Badmaash Company will also show you in another distinct role.
Both Paathshaala and Badmaash Company are diverse roles and I am glad that I had an opportunity to do them and the audience can see me in totally different light.

SRK, Saif want to dance like Shahid!

Shahid Kapoor brought the house down when he paid a eight-minute tribute to pop icon Michael Jackson at the Filmfare Awards ceremony.

Not only was the audience up front spell bound by his perfect foot work and provocative mannerisms, it seems even the actors backstage were actually admiring Shasha. One little birdie says that actors — Shah Rukh Khan (who actually thinks Shahid is one of the finest young talents) and hold your breath, Saif Ali Khan, the emcees that night, were heard saying, “Arrey yaar this boy is so good. We must learn to dance like him.” At least for that night, Shahid found fans in-house too!

Shahid Kapoor reconnects with neighbours

Everyone knows that Shahid Kapoor is a big star today and charges several crore for a film or endorsement. However, few people are aware of his extra humble beginnings - he once stayed in a tenement in Andheri’s MHADA colony. Last week Shahid visited a small studio in the same locality and it was quite literally a walk down memory lane for him.

Shahid’s close companion Mamu, who has known his family for decades, was accompanying him when Shahid reached the area. He informed all of the actor’s old friends who live nearby, and they gathered at the studio to meet Shahid. Needless to say, it was an emotional moment for Shahid as well as Mamu.

Said Mamu, “I have known the family and been with them for over 30 years. There was a time when things were very bad and we stayed in the tenement for a brief period in 2000 and 2001 because we had no option. Shahid was learning dance from Shiamak Davar and the financial situation was quite dire. All this was before Shahid got Ishq Vishk and became a star. Last week when we had gone there and Shahid was inside the studio, a couple of Shahid’s old friends came to know and told me they were keen to meet him, but they weren’t sure if he would be willing to meet them. I said of course he would, and Shahid came out to meet them.”

By this time, a huge crowd had gathered outside and everyone started singing Dhan te nan. Shahid got his pictures clicked with them and chatted with some of his old neighbours.

An emotional Mamu added, “I remember those times - during the rainy season, the roof leaked and I would constantly clean up to keep the place dry so the kids didn’t fall ill. I told Shahid that he has come a long way, ‘bachcha bada ho gaya hai’. When he lived here, no one gave him a second look. Now when we have left, the neighbourhood kids were running after his car. I am very happy for him.”

Shahid has seven different looks in Badmaash Company!!!!!!!!

In Badmaash Company, Kapoor will be seen in seven different avatars a la Leonardo DiCaprio in Catch Me If You Can

It's out. The big secret about Shahid Kapoor's next big film Badmaash Company is that the actor for the first time does a number of looks and makeovers, so much so that he is unrecognizable in the film.

Shaks plays a role inspired by Leonardo DiCaprio's role in Steven Spielberg's Catch Me If You Can where he played a young con artiste who successfully impersonated several professional cashing fraudulent cheques along the way.

Of course, Shahid's make-overs as the con-man have been modified to suit the Indian palate. He gets into as many as seven different disguises. These are a South Indian patriarch, a Bihari babu, a baldie with a hair-loss complex, an African with an Afro-curly hairdo, a Sikh (a patent Yashraj masquerade, this one), a sweet innocent college kid with oil-sickened hair and most interestingly, a Hyderabadi mawaali inspired by Mehmood's look in several films.

Shahid confirms he has undergone a number of makeover tests for Badmaash Company. "Yes, it's true I do a number of looks in the film. But I can't tell you what these looks are. I'll give away the suspense."
